When you have to know what kind of media and compression you have, or the codec of a specific media file, MediaInfo might be your new best friend. MediaInfo is an open-source software application that lets you easily look inside of your media files. It’s a downloadable piece of software that is available for a wide range of operating systems. Just think of it as the magic decoder ring for your audio/visual files.
