The FASTag annual pass is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in India, which will be effective from August 15, 2025.
What is it?
The FASTag annual pass is a prepaid toll payment plan designed to offer convenience and cost savings for owners of private, non-commercial vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans) who frequently travel on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and MoRTH. It is an optional service; users can still opt for the standard pay-per-use FASTag system.
Key features and how it works
Fee: The annual pass costs ₹3,000.
Validity: It is valid for one year or 200 toll crossings, whichever comes first.
Eligible vehicles: Only private, non-commercial cars, jeeps, and vans are eligible, as verified through the VAHAN database.
Coverage: It is valid at toll plazas on NHAI and MoRTH-managed National Highways and Expressways. It does not apply to State Highways (SH), local roads, or private toll roads.
Functionality: It links directly to your existing FASTag account, removing the need for frequent recharges and simplifying toll payments. Each time an eligible vehicle crosses a toll plaza, one toll transaction is deducted from the 200-trip quota.
Exhaustion of limit: Once the 200-trip limit or the one-year validity period is reached, the system automatically switches back to the regular pay-per-use FASTag mode.
Reactivation: Users need to reactivate the pass after its validity or trip limit expires to continue using the annual pass benefits.
Non-Transferable & Non-Refundable: The pass is linked to a specific FASTag and vehicle and cannot be transferred or refunded under any circumstances.
Purchasing: You can purchase the pass online through the Rajmarg Yatra app or the official NHAI/MoRTH website.
