Описание к видео HIDDEN HISTORY WOMEN IN INDUSTRY ST IVES

This film documents the importance of women who worked in the textile factories from 1928 to 1977 in St Ives. These skilled women not only made dresses for the silk garment factory Crysede but also made dresses for John Lewis and Berketex.
They also contributed to the war effort by making camoflage nets and string vests and other products needed during WW2,
Janet Axten Heritage Manager of the St Ives Archives and a team of helpers arranged a unique one day workshop with the women who had worked in these factories ,many hadn't seen each other for many years. They remembered the work they had done which had greatly helped the local economy and their memories will be sewn into a tapestry organized by Jo McIntosh a local textile artist .
