The U.S. Department of State has officially designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its alias, the Majeed Brigade, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). The Majeed Brigade has also been added as an alias to BLA’s Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) status, first issued in 2019.

📌 Background:

2019: BLA designated as SDGT after multiple terrorist attacks.

2024: BLA (via Majeed Brigade) claimed suicide attacks near Karachi airport & Gwadar Port Authority Complex.

2025: BLA claimed the March hijacking of the Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar, killing 31 civilians and security personnel and holding 300+ passengers hostage.

This move by the U.S. is expected to increase global pressure on the group and limit its funding and operational networks.
