Idaho Archery Elk Hunt

In September 2023, Tommy Sessions from Slayer Calls teamed up with Steve Raudenbus from
@mtn2coast_outdoors in this OTC archery elk hunt in their home state of Idaho. Tommy and Steve use the ArchAngel acrylic elk bugle from Slayer Calls to get the elk responding. The bulls were bugling all around Tommy and Steve. After days in the field, this OTC archery hunt ends in success.

From Tommy himself:
"Join Steve and me as we embark on an Idaho over-the-counter archery elk hunt in 2023! Our adventure begins with some challenging news: the bulls had been SILENT. Despite this, I was determined to locate elk and get Steve within shooting range.

On our first evening, we located a bugling bull just a few hundred yards off the trail. However, other hunters were already chasing the same elk, so we moved up the mountain. Near the top, a silent bull came into our bugles at 20 yards but didn't present a shot for Steve. With the evening going quiet, we decided to change areas.

In the new area, we knew elk were present. As we bugled our way into a big basin, we heard a bull bugling above us and the sound of thundering hooves below. Steve set up as the shooter while I called. Suddenly, I heard Steve's bowstring release—I knew he had connected with the silent bull. The bull above us continued to respond to my calls, but we decided to let Steve's elk expire and process it before pursuing the bugling bull.

After a short track, we found Steve's ethically shot bull. We quartered and hung the processed elk, then continued our hunt. Unfortunately, the bugling bull had herded his cows into another drainage, leaving us without further success that day. Throughout the rest of the hunt, we encountered other bulls but couldn't connect on my tag.
