One of the greatest things my Uncle Carl Laemmle and Junior Laemmle ever did was hire Bela Lugosi at Universal. It's hard to imagine someone leaving a greater legacy in an acting role, he changed the way the world imagined vampires forever! Bela Lugosi is most often remembered as Dracula, but the Hungarian-American actor had a career that spanned 5 decades, and many genres and mediums. Bela Lugosi's life is fascinating, not just for the successes he saw, but also for the bumps in the road. He battled addiction, got married five times, and struggled to break out of horror films in a meaningful way. Through it all, he still left behind an impressive career, and a family who loved him very much.
