Berlin's oldest tree is located in the district of Reinickendorf in the Tegel district. A visit can be combined with a nice walk from Tegel harbor. The "Dicke Marie" is located very close to the Großer Malchsee and not far from the restaurant Waldhütte. The 900-year-old oak tree (Quercus robur) is 26 m high, its gnarled trunk has a circumference of 6.65 m and a diameter of over 2 m.

The "Dicke Marie" is said to have got its name from the brothers Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt, who grew up not far from the Tegel Castle and took a liking to the old oak. They are said to have named the tree after their cook Marie.
