Recorded without any amplification, as the sun slowly lit Hunter Canyon at The Moab Music Festival (www.moabmusicfest.org) on the morning of September 10th 2016

Over the past ten years I've had many wonderful moments at this festival: I've played alongside some great friends, been immersed in a warm community of desert denizens, and am grateful that I've also been able to present several concerts on various musical themes dear to my heart. For this concert I was able to assemble a dream band to play a program of compositions by Django Reinhardt, all of which I feel reflect his deep affinity with the European classical composers of his era. "Cavalerie", from '43, provides an open expanse of modal sonic territory - 16 years before Miles Davis' "So What". Horses run free...
This completely un-amplified concert - presented in a natural rock formation at the base of a canyon as the sun rose behind us - was recorded on an iphone 6nd then imported straight to this virtual 78 rpm platform!
