Hey guys, Mac Guzman here. This video is how to get Scout Rank as of October 5th, 2019. Since the rank has a lot of concepts to cover, I will be splitting it into separate videos.

This rank is different from the other ranks because it provides the basis onto which every beginner Scout should know and understand. How can you work towards these requirements? What helps you understand the Patrol Method and the PLC. What is the adult role in a Scouting Troop. How are merit badges earned? What does scout led mean?

Here is an overview of Requirement 2 and 3 for Scout Rank:
2. After attending at least one Scout troop meeting, do the following:
2a. Describe how the Scouts in the troop provide its leadership
2b. Describe the four steps of Scout advancement
2c. Describe the Scouts BSA ranks and how they are earned
2d. Describe what merit badges are and how they are earned
3a. Explain the patrol method. Describe the types of patrols that are used in your troop
3b. Become familiar with your patrol name, emblem, flag, and yell. Explain how these items create patrol spirit

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) includes Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts), Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring. The BSA has 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers. For the first time in its 100+ year history, Boy Scouts is open to both young men and young women aged 11-17. Scout Oath: "On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."

Scout Law: "A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent."

Outdoor Code: "As an american, I will do my best, to be clean in my outdoor manners, to be careful with fire, to be considerate in the outdoors, and be conservation minded"

Scout Mission: "The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law."
