A longtime St. Augustine spa has filed for bankruptcy, just weeks after running a major gift card promotion and assuring customers it wasn’t closing.
Small Indulgences Day Spa, a popular local business for 25 years, abruptly shut its doors on May 6. The closure came shortly after the spa promoted a "buy one, get 20 free" gift card deal — leaving dozens of customers holding unusable cards worth hundreds of dollars.
On Monday, the spa confirmed via Facebook that it has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.
