Vijay Sakhuja sails us through the concept of Blue Economy which is development through sustainable of use of the oceanic resources. He further discussed how this concept of Blue Economy is not only limited to development but also encompasses Maritime Security. Dr. Vijay Sakhuja is Director (Research) of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi. He is also a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore (since 2006).
Dr. Sakhuja received his Ph.D. from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, where he also completed his M.Phil studies. A former Indian Navy officer, Dr. Sakhuja served in the Indian Navy for over two decades in various capacities including commanding officer and staff positions in the Naval Headquarters.
Dr. Sakhuja has been on the research faculty of various think tanks in India, including as: Senior Fellow at the Centre for Airpower Studies (CAPS) and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF); and Research Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), and the United Service Institution of India (USI), all in New Delhi. He has lectured at various Indian and international universities and military colleges.
