Team DMT Racing By Marconi makes team strategy and keeps the yellow jersey with Tiago Ferreira, after three days of competition. In the women's category, Greete Steinburg remains unbeaten in the lead. The third stage takes place on Thursday (11) at 9 am in Vouzela.
The second stage of the Portugal Brasil Ride started this Wednesday morning (11) in the region of Castro Daire bound for São Pedro Do Sul, in a stage that marked with beautiful views over 60.6 km and 1896 m of accumulated altimetry.
In the queen stage of the Portugal Brasil Ride, the competitors made a strategy to manage their achievements so far. In the new category of the Brasil Ride races, the Solo UCI Men, the work was between teammates with Andreas Miltiadis and Tiago Ferreira (DMT Racing By Marconi) who were in a small peloton up to 25 kilometers of race. After that, the pairs between teams were formed to face the climbs of the race. Tiago and Andreas attacked and came out on top. Hugo Drechou and Enrique Morcillo, both from the Buff Megamo Team, were chasing the pointers from a distance. David Rosa, who pulled a good part of the stretches, ended up being left over and did the stage literally alone. The positions didn't change until the finish line, with the first ones crossing the line in an insane 2:46:11. With the result Tiago Ferreira maintains the leadership of the competition with 7 seconds of advantage over the Cypriot Andreas, teammate, who should not dispute the shirt with the Portuguese.
In Solo UCI Women, the win went from start to finish for Greete Steinburg, from MTB Pro Merchandising Racing, who closed the competition with 3h24min37s, opening again just over 13 minutes ahead of the second place, Naima Madlen (Buff Megano Team) . The Portuguese Ana Tomas (BTT Seia) closed the podium and the overall, keeping the same positions since the first day, both in the stage and in the general.
In the mixed category, nothing has changed either, the duo from Portugal, Jose Silva and Celina Carpinteiro (Portugal Brasil Ride), leaders of the category, have more than 40 minutes ahead of Brazilians Andre Lima and Fabiana Brandão (4Fun Bike Center). Closing the podium of the stage, the duo from Norway, Sigmund Aas and Thrude Natholmen (If Frøy/ CK Victoria) now follows the leaders at 1h48min.
The Viriato category (with athletes who completed three Brasil Ride or 3 MTB Portugal) a Brazilian duo won all the stages so far and manages the advantage well. Andre Costa and Carlos Darrós (Team Clarity 725) are in the lead with a total of 8h39min20s, 55 minutes ahead of the Portuguese Jose Pinto and Marcelo Silva (Tweentytwo). Rounding off the podium were the Bahians of Vitória da Conquista, Edmundo Neto and Marcos Lima (Ultra Rides – Pedal Storm) with 9h42min18s accumulated until the second stage.
