Top NATO officials urge strong political backing for defense efforts and more security investment

Chair of NATO's Military Committee, Rob Bauer, emphasizes the crucial need for sustained political backing, citing that increased budgets alone won't be enough to ensure readiness, especially given the current lack of resources due to support for Ukraine.

Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, he underlines the necessity for a ramped-up production tempo and larger volumes in defense industry.

Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson echoes his words, emphasizing Europe's responsibility to invest more in security, while stressing the importance of support for Ukraine.

Despite Sweden's aspirations to join NATO, obstacles remain with Hungary and Turkey yet to endorse the bid.
