I used a treadmill desk, and a wrist activity monitor is useless for a treadmill desk, but I prefer having one on my wrist most of the time instead of on my belt. A clip meter won't be measuring heart rate either. So I've completed a few tests to see just how accurate the Charge HR is if it's strapped to my ankle!

I secured it with the HR sensor on the inside of my ankle. I used medical wrap to hold it securely in place.

For this test, I ran for approximately 286 manually counted steps. Unlike my walking tests, the fitbit showed significantly less steps at 218. I plan to repeat this test to verify the accuracy. At one point my iPhone stopped recording, but it comes back at the end of the video. This should not have effected the counting. Until I complete more tests, I do not recommend using the fitbit charge on your ankle for step counting. There is a reason why it is designed for the wrist.
