Haritaki is an Ayurvedic fruit known for its ability to balance digestion, especially Vata type of digestion 🌿 What may be signs of Vata digestion? Experiencing bloating, flatulence and constipation to name a few.

It has 5 of the 6 tastes – sweet, sour, astringent, bitter and pungent, excluding salty and is great for all three doshas 😋 Haritaki assists in treating inflammation in the body, detoxification and also works as a rejuvenating herb 💪🏼

Haritaki is one of the fruits included in the popular Triphala formulation and many other Ayurvedic remedies.

For the purpose of Rasayana (rejuvenation), Haritaki should be taken with following Anupana, depending on the season. This is called Rtu Haritaki.

1. Sarat 🍂 autumm / anupana sugar candy.
2. Hemanta 🧣 early winter / anupana dried ginger.
3. Sisira 🧦late winter / anupana long pepper.
4. Vasanta 🌷spring / anupana honey.
5. Grisma ☀️ summer / anupana jaggery.
6. Varsa 🌧 rainy season / anupana rock salt.
