Watercolour NC500 Road Trip - Episode One: Painting on windswept Dornoch Beach

Join us on a colourful artistic adventure as Ant, Crumble and I drive Scotland’s legendary NC500 route. Living and creating from the cosy confines of our campervan, I set out to capture the ever‑changing landscapes to see if I can get back to painting for pleasure following a decade of painting to a deadline.

From white sandy beaches, native wildflowers and the dramatic heights of Bealach na Bà - the UK’s steepest single‑track mountain road which winds up from sea level to over 2,000 ft with hair‑raising views through the Torridon Hills - the journey promises scenes ripe for painting.

The first stop on our trip is Dornoch Beach where we discover that Crumble has other ideas when it comes to painting on the beach.
