In 2006, New Line Cinema enlisted the help of director Peter Segal to direct a Shazam vs Black Adam movie, but it ultimately never came to pass. Despite having major talent onboard the project, from writer John August to a big name actor in Dwayne The Rock Johnson, the ill-fated movie seemed set up to be a fun blockbuster.

The movie was set to see Billy Batson inheriting the powers of Shazam, in a story very reminiscent of Jerry Ordway's work on the Power of Shazam comic series. As Billy adjusts to his double life as a superhero and kid, an ancient threat emerges from the past that threatens everything.
