"In 1971, Jaguar introduced the Series 3 E-Type, and this time around, it was vastly different respective to its predecessors in all but its exterior styling.
"The U.S. was one of the most popular markets for the E-Type, but its six-cylinder engine received criticism for being too small when compared to several American V8s.

"In response, Jaguar fitted a 5.3-liter V12 to their newest Series 3 E-Type, producing 272 horsepower and 301 pound-feet of torque. It wasn’t necessarily faster than the Series 2, and in fact, both had similar acceleration times and nearly identical 4-speed manual transmissions, but pretty much everything else about the vehicle’s drivability had changed."
