Experimental Music // Just Friends, Mutable Beads, DistingEX, OXI one, Intellijel Sealegs

Today, I’m shifting from ambient to another favorite concept of mine when testing or developing ideas—the fascinating concept of constant repetition with subtle variations and building layers upon it (layering). Using a short, uneven sequence to create variations against traditional measures helps me think of new elements within the concept of question and response.

With this approach, I often evolve to create a hypnotic or hybrid electronic/classical atmosphere, where repetition serves as a canvas for small variations to develop. These variations, though subtle, are crucial for maintaining a continuous evolution of ideas and keeping the listener immersed in the soundscape.

Integrating sampled string or rhythmic elements helps enrich the sonic texture, blending digital and analog elements in harmony.

Normally, while this base is playing, I would play the piano to explore other patterns, chords, or melodies while one hand tweaks an element of the Eurorack. However, since I’m temporarily out of the studio, I’ve focused on making the most of the available elements.

The entire system is synchronized using WIDI, linking the Eurorack, OXI, iPad, and MacBook Pro with Ableton 12
