I finally finished part II of the arm welding. Last time, I fitted the Artec weld-on arms to the knuckles and welded the arm pieces together.

This time, I'm welding the completed steel arms to the knuckle using a special MIG wire called Nicore-55 or ENiFe-CL from Blue Demon. This wire is specifically designed for welding steel to cast iron or iron to iron. All you need is a little pre-heat for insurance, and a good weld peen after each bead. I used a needle scaler for the deeper peening and a wire wheel for the surface peening.

I heard the knuckles were cast steel on the internet, but my first weld cracked immediately (this is before I purchased the Nicore wire). Because of this, I had to remove the arm and clean up the weld area before I retried.
