Charming Ione and Metaline Falls, Washington

Описание к видео Charming Ione and Metaline Falls, Washington

In the far reaches of NE Washington you will find the historic mining towns of Ione and Metaline Falls. These towns were founded around 1910 to house miners who worked in the Mammoth and Morning lead-zink mines.

Limestone mining for cement manufacturing was also a major employer. The cement companies closed in 1990 after 80 years of operation. Cement silos still dominate the Metaline Falls skyline.

Metaline Falls, definitely off the beaten path, has been named one of the 100 Best Small Arts Towns in America. It also was the site for filming "The Postman" (1997) starring Kevin Costner, Will Patton and Larenz Tate.

This sequence of videos and stills were captured with a Canon Vixia HFS-100 camera and edited with Microsoft Movie Maker and Adobe Premier CS6.
