Blue Peter at York 20 11 2024

The last time I saw Blue Peter many years ago was before a terrible accident on Durham viaduct resulting in serious injury to the driver as well as destroying the locomotives motion. After that we were told she would never run on the main again. Now in all her glory she is back fully restored and looking resplendent in early BR Blue. It was a freezing cold day and there were many problems when I got to my station, the guard on a train taking a different route kindly let me use my ticket for the longer journey round, as it turned out Blue Peter was also delayed by around 30 mins so it worked out OK. Later on they were booked to run via the Avoider, with only 10 mins before booked arrival in the station and no sign of anything I headed back to the station, and of course the moment I got there I found they were heading to the Avoider after all, so a quick dash back where luckily I just managed to get her passing under the bridge, followed by a quick dash back to the station just in time for the arrival from Holgate. A late departure and a chance of getting along side on a Northern train had me rushing again but things did not work out the Northern left 12 mins late and by then Blue Peter was miles away.
