Amtrak Downeaster Equipment Move With An MP15 Leading!!!

On Monday, 6/24/2024, a good friend and I ended up chasing an Amtrak Downeaster equipment move (better known as the Portland Extra) from Boston up to southern New Hampshire as this one in particular had a pretty uncommon MP15 leading, a locomotive breed that is typically only used in yard service. In this case, there were no P42s in Boston so the MP15 led to Portland with the NPCU on the rear end. After the chase on Monday, we ended up chasing it again on Wednesday, 6/26, this time there was a P42 leading and in addition to the MP15 was a horizon car leading to a pretty intriguing consist, resulting in us to once again give chase from Andover through Boston in a crazy thunderstorm that would be quite costly to the greater Boston area.
