The best-designed and highest-performing espresso machine for home baristas in 2025.

As a former barista, I was always disappointed by most home espresso machines.. either soulless in design or made almost entirely of plastic.

Back when I used to review coffee machines for a living, I kept coming back to the Stone Espresso line.

These machines are made by Rocket Espresso - the same folks behind the iconic Rocket Appartamento and other beloved machines.

I finally pulled the trigger and got the Stone Lite (identical to the regular Stone Espresso Machine, just without the customizable side panels). I bought it myself, got a great deal, and put it to the test.

Here are my honest thoughts.

Accessoires

1. Tamping Mat: I use one from Normcore. Any cheap one works, but this feels more premium.
2. Tamper: Highly recommend a self-leveling tamper. I use Normcore here too.
3. Milk Pitcher: I use a Rhinoware. Honestly, most are very similar.

Nice to Have (but not essential):

RDT Spray: Helps reduce grinder retention. You can also just dampen your finger and touch the beans. Brand doesn’t matter.
WDT Tool: For breaking up clumps and improving extraction. Mine’s a €10 Amazon off-brand.
Funnel: I use the Normcore magnetic funnel—it doesn’t compact the puck and fits neatly.
Cleaning Powder: Use once a week to keep things fresh (frequency depends on usage).
