The Kerala government on Monday announced night curfew from Tuesday onwards in the wake of the recent surge in COVID cases. The night curfew will come into effect from 9 pm to 5 am starting tomorrow. The government has also decided to resume work from home facility. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting held on Monday.
The curfew has been announced for two weeks. There will not be any restriction on public transport. Private tuition centres will not be allowed to open. Only online classes will be allowed. Movie theatres and malls will remain open only till 7 pm. The Chief Secretary's order on curfew instructions will be issued soon.
The police had demanded to take strict action in order to reduce crowding in public places.
It was also decided to limit Thrissur Pooram to rituals only. The public won’t be allowed to enter the festival ground. Only the organisers can take part in the festival.
