Electric Bus Demo: New Flyer, Xcelsior CHARGE™

Come along for a ride on a battery-electric zero-emission bus demonstration that North County Transit District took part in. This bus, the Xcelsior CHARGE™, is manufactured by New Flyer.

NCTD is in the process of learning more about different electric buses from multiple vendors as it looks to the future of transit.

As of August 2018, NCTD has not entered into any agreement with a vendor for electric buses. NCTD is in the process of preparing to work with a consultant firm to recommend and design any needed upgrades to NCTD’s bus maintenance facilities to support charging and other electric bus infrastructure and anticipates issuing a competitive request for proposals for the purchase of electric buses sometime in early 2020.
