Описание к видео Why Are So Many Chinese Electric Cars Catching Fire? 🔥⚡

Electric cars were supposed to be the future — quiet, clean, and eco-friendly.
But lately, headlines about electric cars bursting into flames, especially from China, are spreading fast.
So, what’s really going on? Are Chinese EVs more dangerous, or is this just hype?

What the Numbers Say:

China reports around 3,000 electric-vehicle fires every year — that’s about 8 cars catching fire every single day.

In one quarter alone, there were over 600 incidents involving EV fires.

Still, when compared to gasoline cars, the fire rate per vehicle isn’t necessarily higher — the risk just looks bigger because China builds and sells millions of EVs every year.

The fire rate actually dropped from 1.85 per 10,000 EVs in 2021 to 0.96 per 10,000 in 2023.
So yes, fires happen — but mostly because there are so many more EVs on the road.

The Main Causes:

⚡ Battery problems – Lithium-ion batteries can enter “thermal runaway” if damaged or overheated, causing chain-reaction fires.
In China, about 80% of EV fires happen during charging.

🏭 Quality and production pressure – The EV market in China exploded so fast that some smaller manufacturers may have cut corners in testing or battery safety systems.

☀️ Extreme temperatures – Most fires happen in summer (May to September) when heat pushes battery temperatures too high.

🔌 Poor charging infrastructure – Many fires start in underground garages or with cheap, unregulated chargers.

🔥 Public perception vs reality – Statistically, EVs don’t burn more often than gas cars, but when they do, the fires look worse — and videos spread instantly.
