CONSTRUCTION PM PRINCIPLES: PLANNING, THINKING & SCHEDULING, LONG AND SHORT TERM APPLIED MS PROJECT

In this video combination PM Tips and MS Project video I introduce a thought experiment that illustrates the need for both long term and short term planning and scheduling. I use a 2yr College Diploma Program as an example of a goal a student will have when entering the program. The Diploma is essentially a big project that has a clearly defined breakdown by year and semester. We can schedule this and have a good sense of what we need to complete. But, and it’s a big but we need a lot more clarity and detail to be successful. There is no point in micro scheduling something that is 1.5 years away. On the other hand, we can get much more detailed as the work comes closer. This is the thought experiment. Tom Stephenson is a national award-winning professor (George Brown College, University of Toronto) and best-selling author whose background in education spans nearly three decades.
