BIS Talks on Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Sector

Petroleum and coal are the two largest contributors to India’s energy basket. Clean and safe sources of energy are required to protect us and our environment. Petroleum derivatives and petrochemicals plays a major role as precursor of a variety of products like plastic, rubber, organic chemicals etc. Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Department (PCD) is one of the department of Bureau of Indian Standards that sets standards to ensure safety, and quality of petroleum, coal and other related products. PCD has formulated over 1470 standards. The BIS Talks, throws light on the work done by the department. In this talk, the standards of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Department are broadly categorized into 6 sub-sectors. Some of the important standards of each category, highlighting the scope and various tests have been expounded.
