WALES COAST KAYAK - CALDEY ISLAND

This video is of my 6 miles kayak around Caldey Island on the Pembrokeshire coast on the 1 July 2021.

The video covers:

• The rich birdlife of the island
• My close encounters with some of Caldey’s seals
• The historic monastery and Abbey on the island
• Caldey Island’s lighthouse, and
• Important safety information about the strong tidal currents around the island

It was part of our undertaking to kayaking all of the 870 miles or so of the Wales Coast. Our Wales coast kayaks have taken us to parts of the coast that we've never been to before.

This Caldey Island kayak allowed my to explore the coast of the island, including the Southern side of the island which you cannot see from the mainland.

I used the shuttle boat to get to Caldey Island from Tenby and back, which saved me at least 3 miles extra paddling. I used a Pro Aqua inflatable kayak which made it possible to use the shuttle boat to get to the island and back. This allowed my to take my time exploring the coast of Caldey Island as I paddled all the way around it.
