ARTPORT_making waves in the framework of their WE ARE OCEAN Wadden Sea KUNSTREUSEN project by the German artist Insa Winkler commissioned this video which reflects the idea behind the project and narrates the story of the traditional fish trap fishing method which is home to the Wadden Sea and which is under risk of extinction. This local and most ecologically friendly way of fishing is an example for ocean protection and Wadden Sea protection. The artist worked with school students from the OBS Dorum during the summer 2022 and created a collective art work, the sculpture of the North Sea Shrimp. After its creation and a performance into the mudflat at the Dorumer Tief (Lower Saxony, Germany), the sculpture was shown at the Trilateral Wadden Sea Conference in Wilhelmshaven in November 202 and is now permanently installed in the participating school OBS Dorum, Wurster Nordseeküste, Germany.
