White nationalism is nothing new. Throughout History it has come in many forms from the Nazis, Neo Nazis the KKK and in America in particular they saw it with slavery, Jim Crow laws, and segregation. In the 1960’s civil rights victories led to the decline of white supremacist groups. In modern times we are seeing this ideology which never really went away on the rise again, and the scary thing is people are happy to publicly express these hateful views more openly than ever before. It’s a complex deeply concerning phenomenon that has gained renewed visibility and momentum over the last few years.

The narrative that is spreading especially in America but even in my own country of Ireland in some circles is that immigration is the issue. That basically there are too many people coming in committing crimes and collecting all the welfare. This is something that has been proven especially in America not to be true.

With the worrying rise of these hate groups we look at where they are coming from and how they hide behind their white identify as a justification. The KKK, patriot front and Return to the Land to name a few are growing in America.
