GANNA Ensemble - Plyve Kacha (live at the A-Trane Jazz Club Berlin, March 2023)

This year it is 10 years since Euromaidan (Nov. 2013 - Feb. 2014). People demonstrated and fought for democracy and independence of Ukraine in the center of Kyiv. And this is when we started to claim our freedom getting rid of the colonial empire. This is when more than 100 people were shot in the center of our capital and this is when the russian war against Ukraine started with the occupation of Crimia.
To honour the lives of the killed people the crowd sang an old Ukrainian song for them, Plyve Kacha. In this song a young man says farewell to his mother and asks her to forgive him because he will not be able to come back alive.
Today we sing this song to honour thousands of fallen heroes who are giving their lives for peace in Europe each and every single day.
