What makes the great overland station a true historical treasure? The countless men and women who've traveled on trains from it's platform, many serving in our armed forces to fight for freedom in our country and around the world.

Where they were called to serve in the name of freedom, including those who contributed to the great accomplishment of human of flight. Both in war and in civilization's advancement.
On this Memorial Day, Wingspan Adventures and Flight invites you to join us in a moment of solemn remembrance as we fly above one of the Midwest’s most meaningful veteran tributes—the All Veterans Memorial at the historic Great Overland Station in Topeka, Kansas. A somewhat hidden, often overlooked, historical gem of a city. The capital of Kansas.
Once a bustling hub of travel and military departure, this grand station saw countless young service members off to World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Today, it stands restored and repurposed, sharing its grounds with a powerful memorial honoring veterans of every branch and every American conflict.
This video captures the site in rare solitude, no crowds, no movement, other than one Union Pacific train, and a lone yellow pickup truck, just the flags, the flame, and the hundreds of engraved bricks bearing the names of heroes who served and sacrificed for our freedoms.
Why didn't I see anyone else here? It was nearly without human presence for close to one hour during my visit. I saw one person stroll by, likely homeless, in need of good fortune. Pushing her grocery cart toward the Topeka Rescue Mission. One pickup truck which appeared to be a security guard, Several Union Pacific freight trains, and a couple taking their dogs for a walk. Other than those people, this place was quite. Truly a surreal experience I'm blessed to share with the world on this channel.
