Every year, Mount Pleasant, Iowa becomes alive with the sound of steam. Midwest Old Threshers is a gathering on different forms of old machinery, primarily tractors, farm equipment, cars, and, of course, trains. Located on the thresher grounds is the Midwest Central Railroad and Midwest Electric Railroad, whose purpose is to transport people about the grounds. The MCRR is one of very few narrow gauge railroads outside of the Rocky Mountains. The MCRR's power for the day was West Side Lumber Shay #9 and Surry, Sussex, and Southampton Railway "Maria" #6. WSL #9 is currently on loan from the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Colorado. Anyone who gets a chance should definitely attend.
