The US President made a speech after a report from the US Justice Department found he "willfully" retained and disclosed highly classified materials when he was a private citizen."

The report also cited "significant limitations" with his memory, including his struggles to recall when his son Beau died, which would contribute to a decision against charging him.

Fears around the American President's 'cognitive decline' have grown recently after a number of public gaffes, the most recent including two references to dead European leaders, when instead of referring to French President Emmanuel Macron he noted Francois Mitterrand.

Further, on Wednesday he declared that he had discussed the January 6 Capitol riots with Chancellor of Germany Helmut Kohl, during a G7 meeting in the UK in 2021, who died in 2017.

In his speech defending against the Justice Department report, he appeared to make another blunder, mixing up Egypt and Mexico.
