E Cores - Slow, simple, not super efficient... but still good?

Описание к видео E Cores - Slow, simple, not super efficient... but still good?

Intel's P cores do kind of what you expect from cores. But their E cores are something different. And right now, don't do as much as you might think. But they're proving their worth lower down the product stack... and who knows what the future holds for these slow, simple little cores?

There really isn't a lot about these things online, but here's a really interesting comparison between E cores, P cores and... zen 2! https://chipsandcheese.com/2022/01/28...
Having an Intel 13900K, I've been able to test these E cores out. 16 of them consume about 150 watts. Which looks like they're all consuming far more than the optimal amount of power!
So for the power budget of about... 2x Ryzen 5700X's, Intel's E cores provides the same number of cores, but half the number of threads. And they're only E cores, and not Zen 3 cores. So... not exactly stunning efficiency. The moment I bring a render to the foreground, its speed more than doubles as I assume the P cores also focus on getting the job done. But this presents a problem when I'm waiting on a render to finish, but trying to do ANYTHING else as I wait (Including web browsing) puts the render in the background and halves its speed. HMMM
