Welcome to the cirque du Jagwar Twin! Frontman/ringleader Roy English will guide you through his alt-pop carnival today. He’s a show pro after all, with almost two decades of musicianship under his belt. Since 2018, English has used Jagwar Twin to juxtapose, as he says, “light vs. dark” and “good vs. evil.” Travis Barker was an early champion of JT’s volatile blend of hip-hop, hard rock, and pop; so much so that the blink-182 drummer contributed to 2018’s ‘Subject to Flooding.’ 2022’s ‘33’ album widened the tent to fit more sonic eccentricities on the bill - primarily traditional Slavic dance music and accordions. You won’t find his contemporaries messing with those sounds. English’s quest to make opposites attract could be labeled eccentric if it didn’t have so many supporters. “Happy Face” and “Bad Feeling (Oompa Loompa)” have earned more than 200 million Spotify plays combined. Both put the oo-pa energy right up front. In fact, the “Bad Feeling” video has 10 million views, which led one commenter to joke “We getting a golden ticket with this.” Jagwar Twin is currently playing the year’s hottest Wonka-pilled jam while on the road with 30 Seconds to Mars.
