Have you ever considered the impact of your daily actions on the environment? From consuming energy to buying new gadgets, we often contribute to the greenhouse effect, which leads to climate change.
Many people perceive environmental issues as boring or academic, making it challenging to grasp. To address this, The Active organized an immersive exhibition, "Greencery: Act Store," as part of the Bangkok Climate Action Week 2025.
This exhibition connects everyday stories with environmental impacts, encouraging visitors to choose their "actions" to help the planet. We spoke to the designers, Ai-Ai Onwach and Mike Thanathorn, about the origins and ideas behind this colorful and potentially transformative initiative for environmental advocacy in Thailand.
The exhibition is divided into four zones, guiding visitors through the causes of global warming, the impact on Bangkok's temperature, and the choices we can make to reduce our environmental footprint. By registering and completing a lifestyle survey, visitors receive a "carbon impact receipt" detailing their personal carbon footprint.
Onwach explains that the goal is to demonstrate how our daily lives impact the environment and encourage us to think beyond individual actions. It's about asking who is responsible for the increasing greenhouse gases and the resulting climate change.
The exhibition also addresses concerns about creating waste. Thanathorn assures that the exhibition uses both new production and recycled materials, with many elements designed to be reused for future events or children's play.
Onwach invites everyone to take small steps, such as supporting environmental organizations, seeking information, and advocating for policies. "As individuals, we can make a difference... because this is our story."
