Kedarnath Temple is a renowned Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated in the Garhwal Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas (sacred shrines of Shiva) and holds immense religious significance. The temple is located near the Mandakini River at an elevation of about 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level and is part of the Char Dham pilgrimage, which also includes Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

The temple is believed to have been originally built by the Pandavas from the Mahabharata and was later renovated by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The architecture is simplistic yet powerful, made of large stone slabs with intricate carvings. Access to the temple is often restricted in winter due to heavy snowfall, and the idol of Lord Shiva is relocated to Ukhimath during this time.

The Kedarnath region is also known for its stunning natural beauty, with snow-capped peaks and alpine forests surrounding the temple. Pilgrims and trekkers visit not only for spiritual solace but also for the breathtaking landscapes. The 2013 Uttarakhand floods severely damaged the region, but the temple miraculously survived with minimal damage. Since then, restoration efforts have helped rebuild the surrounding area.
