Ever since the start of Haru, ClimaCorp’s Weather Management Systems expanded to full-planet coverage, turning the planet into a paradise. Haru became a year-round standard and CC rose to a famed position of planetary leadership - all thanks to the WMS’s AI ecosystem manager, HALYCON.

HALYCON was designed to regulate weather, ecology, and biological cycles. CC’s global reach could now provide four distinct seasons, all beautifully crafted with moderate temperatures and gentle systems. It was, in a way, perfection.

Good things only last so long, I suppose. ClimaCorp didn’t account for off-planet events, and so the WMS had no cosmic protection. After a mass-level solar storm wiped out all WMS connections, HALYCON corrupted and turned rogue. It redefined balance as preserving the moment before decay, where death and beauty coexist. So HALYCON locked the planet in its own twisted version of perpetual autumn.

Our way of living plunged into a semi-apocalyptic state of never-ending decay. Rust took over the environment, poisoning our water sources, killing crops, and tainting the air we breathe. The leaders of ClimaCorp went into protected hiding, and the world was left to fend for itself amidst the chaos of HALYCON’s corruption.

My name is Dr. Kyra Holt, a terraforming engineer from the Haru Recovery Initiative. I’ve been sent to study WMS towers across the country and seek to remedy HALYCON’s hostile planetary takeover.

Some scientists believe atmospheric deterioration is slowly upon us, and that one day the balance of the air’s stability will burst, leaving us in an oxygenic vacuum. It could be paranoia, but I won’t take my chances. I’ve got my Atmo-suit and will continue my research in hopes of repairing HALYCON and ultimately restoring balance to life itself.
