How to do Analysis of a Spring in ANSYS

Описание к видео How to do Analysis of a Spring in ANSYS

In this video, we're going to show you how to do an analysis of a spring in ANSYS. This will be a great tutorial for anyone who wants to learn how to do an analysis in ANSYS.

You'll learn how to load the spring into the model, how to create the mesh, and how to do the analysis. After watching this video, you'll be able to do an analysis of a spring in ANSYS like a pro!
Today I show you how to do an ANSYS simulation on a spring designed according to certain values, and see whether the resulting shear stress will be within acceptable limits.

The analysis of a spring is important because it helps to determine the behavior of the spring under different loading conditions. This information is useful in designing and selecting springs for various applications, such as in automotive and aerospace systems, mechanical devices, and in structural and civil engineering.

There are several factors that can affect the behavior of a spring, such as its material properties, geometry, and loading conditions. By analyzing the spring, it is possible to determine its stiffness, strength, and deflection characteristics, as well as its natural frequency and mode shapes. This information is used to ensure that the spring can perform its intended function effectively and safely, without failing or deforming excessively.

In addition to design and selection, the analysis of a spring can also be used to predict and prevent potential problems or failures during use. By understanding the behavior of the spring under different loading conditions, it is possible to identify potential failure modes and take appropriate measures to mitigate them. This can help to improve the reliability and performance of the system in which the spring is used

In a spring, shear stresses refer to the forces that act perpendicular to the cross-sectional area of the spring material. These forces can be caused by external loads applied to the spring, or by internal stresses that are generated within the spring due to its own deflection.

ANSYS
ANSYS is a powerful computer-aided engineering (CAE) software platform that is used to analyze and design a wide range of systems and components. It includes a variety of tools and features that allow users to perform simulations and analyses of various types of problems, including structural, thermal, fluid, and electromechanical systems.

Example 23.6. Design a close coiled helical compression spring for a service load ranging from 2250 N to 2750 N. The axial deflection of the spring for the load range is 6 mm. Assume a spring index of 5. The permissible shear stress intensity is 420 MPa and modulus of rigidity, G = 84 kN/mm2. Neglect the effect of stress concentration. Draw a fully dimensioned sketch of the spring, showing details of the finish of the end coils.
