One night, Ron discovers Snape and Hermione’s secret. The boys ask for explanations. Snape admits they kissed. They almost fight and Snape leaves the tent after the argument. Hermione runs after him. They soon see each other again at Fleur and Bill's wedding. The sight of Hermione brings back memories of the Yule Ball as well as other moments of their past. But after Dumbledore’s death, things have changed and not for the good. Snape shows a newspaper about muggleborns to Hermione and a WANTED poster with her name and photo on it. She knows it won't be long before the Deatheaters come after her. Snape tries his best to secretly protect and hide her as they move from place to place despite still remaining a deatheater himself. While hiding in an abandoned house in the forest, Hermione sneaks into Snape’s room and notices he’s kept a photo of her with him. Her presence wakes him up and they spend the night together. The next morning, they decide to go to his house where Hermione finds more photos of them together. She watches Snape sleep for the last time before she erases herself from the photos and his memory, knowing very well she puts him in danger. Snape is devastated and can no longer remember the face of the girl (Hermione) he has loved very much. Not long after she leaves the house, the Deatheaters arrive and witness Snape crying on the floor, not understanding why. A month later, the Deatheaters catch Hermione in the forest and bring them to the manor. Snape arrives and witnesses her torture. He doesn't recognise her but is confused and affected by what he sees. He suddenly notices a broken photo on the floor, near her injured arm. Hermione has kept the last photo of them together so that Snape would always "recall that girl that he once loved"... "a little light in his heart"… and in the hope to give him back his memory one day. Harry and Ron take this opportunity to rescue Hermione. Part of Snape tells him to fight back while the other tells him to let them go. During the war, Hermione locates Snape and runs straight to him, followed by Harry and Ron. The boys wait outside while she talks to him. She explains what she did and why he doesn't remember her. For him, it's like the first time they meet, but he's able to remember her eyes, as if they already knew each other before... thanks to that broken photo of them she has kept all this time. Harry interrupts their discussion as the war is getting more intense and Hermione asks to go home.
