Over the year since the inaugural Awards Ceremony, it’s been a huge pleasure to see how the winners and nominees have benefited from and been ambassadors for the Awards.
We’re delighted to welcome Campbell Macpherson, Winner of the Business Book of the Year Award 2018, as our keynote speaker tonight to tell us how his year has panned out.
In this second year of the Awards, we’ve been able to grow and develop our award categories, judging criteria, processes and visibility. Last year’s winners were outstanding, and their books were of the highest quality. Our eminent judges carried out their assessments to the exact criteria we had set, and picked the winners with expertise and integrity. Nevertheless, we had not expected every winner to be a white man.
This year, we have expanded our award categories from six to nine, and reviewed their designations and the judging criteria. We also have an additional award for An Exceptional Book by a Woman (sponsored by Shaa Wasmund), which has been picked from all the category shortlists.
The Judging Panel, expertly headed by Alison Jones, has expanded from twenty to thirty, and has once more done a sterling job. I can’t thank them enough for the time and expertise they
have given to the complex and challenging process of shortlisting the entries and picking the winners. My thanks, also, to our Partners, Sponsors and Ambassadors, who have contributed greatly to our ongoing success.
After an intense Judging Day on 16th January, we hosted a well-attended evening party to announce the shortlists to all entrants, and the excitement has been mounting ever since.
Now we are about to find out the winners of the Business Book Awards 2019. Have a wonderful evening, enjoy the delicious food and sparkling company – and good luck to all the superb nominees.
