The Rake's Progress | Juilliard Opera

Juilliard Opera presents an intimate reimagining of Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, recorded between February 14 and 20, 2022, in the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Theater.

In order to highlight the characters’ journeys and maximize opportunities for our singers, the roles of Tom Rakewell, Anne Trulove, and Nick Shadow are each shared by two performers. The chorus and some minor characters have been eliminated, distilling the story to its core.

This production features an arrangement of the score for two pianos and harpsichord, created collaboratively by Mark Shapiro and performance pianists Francesco Barfoed and Jinhee Park.
