Microsoft Excel Tutorial: How to Calculate a Moving Average in Excel.
Welcome back to the MrExcel netcast! In this video, we'll be discussing how to create a moving average in Excel. This is a useful tool for those who are working with forecasting or analyzing data that has fluctuations over time.

To start, we'll create a line chart with markers to visualize our data. Once the chart is created, we can right click on it and select "Add Trendline". In the options, we'll choose "Moving Average" and select the number of periods we want to use for our average. In this example, we'll use a 3-period moving average.

After clicking "OK", we'll notice that the trendline appears on our chart. However, it may be too dark and distracting from the actual data. To fix this, we can right click on the trendline and select "Format Trendline". From there, we can change the line style and color to our preference.

Now, we can see the blue line representing our sales data and the dotted line representing the 3-period moving average. As you can see, the moving average smooths out the fluctuations in the data and gives us a clearer trend to analyze.
