If you are getting warning messages in the Windows settings app for your security settings that say things such as some of these settings are managed by your organization or your organization prevents sending diagnostic data to Microsoft, here are a couple of things you can try to fix it so you can manage the settings yourself.

Navigate to:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection

Change the value for the AllowTelemetry DWORD value

0 (Security) - Sends only security-related data (e.g. Windows Defender, crash logs). Enterprise, Education, Server only.

1 (Basic) - Sends basic system info, settings, hardware details, and reliability data. Default for Home & Pro.

3 (Optional) - Sends full diagnostic data including app usage, performance, and memory dumps. Can be enabled on all editions.

For Enterprise, Education, and Server editions setting it to 0 still sends Malware reports and Windows Defender data, crash logs for security related failures and basic system integrity info (e.g., kernel faults, boot issues)


Run these one a time from an admin command prompt

reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost" /f
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Policies" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Policies" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Defender" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Policies" /f
reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f
