The celebration of Jesus' birth on December 25th is not directly supported by the Bible, leading many scholars to question the historical accuracy of this date. The New Testament provides no specific date for Jesus' birth, and the Gospel accounts—primarily found in Matthew and Luke—focus on the events surrounding His birth rather than offering a clear indication of when it occurred.

For example, the Gospel of Luke mentions that there were "shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks at night" (Luke 2:8), which suggests a time of year that was milder, such as spring or early autumn, rather than winter, when it would have been unlikely for shepherds to be out in the fields. Furthermore, the idea of celebrating Christ’s birth on December 25th is believed to have been influenced more by Roman traditions, particularly the feast of Sol Invictus (the "Unconquered Sun"), which fell around the same time. Early Christians may have adopted this date to align with existing pagan festivals, rather than it being a biblically prescribed event. Therefore, the choice of December 25th as Jesus' birthday lacks direct biblical support and is seen by many as a later, symbolic decision rather than a historically accurate one.
