Last chapter was crazy, right? So to recap: Bartz's world and Galuf's world were originally one a thousand years ago. However, in order to defeat Enuo and seal away the Void, the world was split into two. When we fought Exdeath and the crystals shattered, this caused the two worlds to merge again. Hence, this 'new' world we're in now, has parts of both worlds merged together. The Void is also now unsealed and we see it consume Tycoon Castle. However, everything's ok because now we have a plan! We'll get the twelve legendary weapons that were used to defeat Enuo and we'll use'em on Exdeath. In order to get them, we need four tablets. The first one is supposedly at the pyramid in the desert of shifting sands...
CHAPTER 20 - PYRAMID OF MOORE
Is it me, or is this a tough chapter? The pyramid has eight floors, but only one save point. They've bee generous with save points up until now. But there's no actual boss fight here, so maybe that's why they only have one. Anyway, I found this area challenging. I'd get about halfway through and then suddenly a monster would cast zombie on someone and then I'd realize I had no Holy Water. So I decided to take a quick off-screen trip to Castle Surgate, which is located just north of the Library of the Ancients. I was able to stock up on a few things before heading to the desert.
On the way to the pyramid, you'll enter a forest area, which is where the Guardian Tree is, from the forest of Moore. The tree and burned down forest has begun to heal and come back to life, so Krile wonders why Galuf hasn't also been revived. When we enter the desert, we discover that the sands are now no-longer shifting. So we're able to approach the pyramid, no problem. You must fight two Gargoyles before entering. If you kill one, the other will revive it, so this can be a bit challenging. You might be tempted to kill both at the same time, but there's an easier way. Simply cast 'Beserk' on one and then focus on killing the other. The berserker Gargoyle won't be able to revive its partner. Now we enter the 8-floor pyramid...
One annoying thing I encountered here, was that drain-type moves like 'Jitterbug' and 'Mystery Waltz' will actually damage you. But Sword Dance is just too good of a move to not risk it. The Golem summon is also your best friend here, as it will shield you from physical damage. Many monsters will have weaknesses, so use Spellblade appropriately to quickly mow'em down. Occasionally, you'll see some white snakes pop-up, which you'll have to fight if you approach them. Just keep in mind, you don't actually have to. There's also some mechanical creatures walking around the fourth floor. These are weak to lightning and a weapon enchanted with Thundaga will kill it instantly.
In the second half of the pyramid, there's a lot of potential to run into dead-ends or being led in circles. Even with a little practice, I had to do some retracing near the end. There's also plenty of treasures with monsters waiting inside. There's one with a monster called 'Objet D'Art'. They look like a suit of armor, possessed by a ghost or spirit. These can cast 'Break' and will sometimes do it three times in a row. So really, you'll need to be lucky and hopefully at least one of your party remains unpetrified.
On the 8th floor, you'll find the Earth Tablet and you'll be led outside through the top of the pyramid. I was so happy to be done here. Afterwards, you'll see a cutscene where the Library of Ancients is swallowed up by the Void. So make sure you do one last round at the library before this. The guys on the roof will teach you a new song. Also, you can still go fight the 'Page 64' monster in order to learn 'Level 5 Death'.
If you head back to the Guardian Tree, you'll have to fight a boss. So make sure to use a Cottage and save before this! We're almost 75% with the game!
