U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. David M. Fallon, relinquishes the sword of office to Sgt. Maj. Robert K. Lusk, as he assumes command of the 1st Civil Affairs Group at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, May 18, 2024. The historic post and relief ceremony is a time-honored tradition within the U.S. Marine Corps. The ceremony serves as the official changeover between sergeants major, honoring the outgoing sergeant majors’ contributions, while offering the opportunity for the oncoming sergeant major to introduce himself to the Marines now under his charge.
